Hospitality Graduates Hobnob at Hilton University of Houston Hotel
MU graduates were among professors and peers from around the world at the 12th Annual Graduate Education and Graduate Student Research Conference in Hospitality and Tourism in Houston.
The conference, held Jan. 4 to Jan. 6 at the Hilton University of Houston Hotel, gave hospitality students the opportunity to read and present papers on their research.
The Department of Hotel and Restaurant Management at the University of Missouri successfully presented two stand-up and two poster presentations.
"It was a fantastic experience to speak in front of my peers. To have the opportunity to tell them about my research and what's relevant to my career was really an honor," says Greg Chase who presented his research entitled "Etiquette teaching methods and knowledge retention."
"Our program is one of the fastest programs at Mizzou. The Graduate Conference is a significant event for us to promote and advertise our program nationationally." says James Groves, chair of Hotel and Restaurant Management. "It's also important to recognize the accomplishments of the program and the graduates."
More than 240 papers were submitted for presentation at the conference. There were conference tracks on hospitality management, marketing, tourism and travel, finance and economics, human resources, lodging, education, information technology, and food service. The conference closed with a final luncheon at noon on Saturday.
